Login, server browsing and joining a match are separate steps. Locate the failing step first.
01 Check official status
If many players are affected, start with official Steam announcements and maintenance notices. Reinstalling during an outage is unlikely to help.
02 Confirm the client build
After a patch, fully exit and restart the game so Steam can update it. Resolve a client/server build mismatch before retrying a join.
03 Keep the exact error
Record the exact code, step, time and region. Do not apply one generic system fix to unrelated errors.
Put it into practice
Check equipment in the database, then calculate the full kit in the planner. Revisit official announcements when the build changes.
